Following her graduation from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Kinesiology, Gillian worked in a North York Physiotherapy clinic as a Kinesiologist for 5 years. Building on her experience in the rehabilitation field, she attended the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy to complete her Massage Therapy Diploma. She successfully attained her provincial license shortly after graduating. She became a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the Ontario Massage Therapists’ Association (now called the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario) and started practising at the Mapleview Family Physiotherapy Centre in the south end of Barrie in October of 2000.
While maintaining a clinical practice, Gillian taught in the Massage Therapy Program part-time at a local private College for over a decade teaching Pathophysiology, Clinical Assessments and Massage Theory and Techniques. She has taken time to continually update her skills by taking certificate courses including the Dr. Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage levels I and II, Fascial Stretching, Lumbar Assessment, Sport Massage, Taping, Aromatherapy, and Hot Stone Massage.
Over the last 2 years, while working in Midhurst, Gillian has continued to take various taping courses and most recently a cupping course, and she incorporates all of the modalities into treatments when she feels it is beneficial. Please feel free to ask Gillian for a demonstration of any of the taping, stone, or cupping modalities.
Michelle Nagy is a Registered Massage Therapist who’s goal is to help optimize the wellness of people from all walks of life. She graduated with honours from a three year program at Algonguin College in Ottawa, and pursued a career in massage at a physiotherapy and sports injury clinic in Petawawa.
Working at this location allowed Michelle to fulfill her dream of working with military personnel, both in active duty and retired veterans. She gained valuable experience in this environment as she was able to help those with many different acute and chronic injuries and conditions including: disc herniations, muscle strains, thoracic outlet syndrome, whiplash, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, PTSD, pre and post natal, tendinitis, sciatica and more. Michelle has a special interest in treating TMJ conditions. She completed the Head, Neck and Jaw master Class in 2017 to further her understanding of the mechanics and pathomechanics of the TMJ, head forward posture, and the evaluation and treatment of associated musculature.
She is passionate about preventive health care and in treating all patients with integrity and respect. Her ambition in massage is to treat the individual and not just the impairment. Michelle believes massage therapy is an optimal way to maintain muscle and mental health, and to keep stress levels down. In her spare time, she enjoys working on her cottage, staying active with her dog, Mika Moo Moo and spending time experimenting in the kitchen.
